Into the Home Stretch
HEADED INTO THE HOME STRETCH!
April and May are bringing us closer to the home stretch. We watched the exposed wood get wired, and plumbed. The drywall is in place and has been taped and prepped. We are directing our painters about color choices and the painting should begin this week. Fixtures are ordered and the décor is taking shape! We are opening with new and exciting products, and the orders have been placed with deliveries beginning.
As mother’s day approaches we all begin to remember and celebrate the important women in our lives. We would like to take this opportunity to say “Happy Mother’s day” to our moms, and to all the amazing women out there. We encourage you to take a moment to relax and put your feet up. We continue to offer gift certificates on line, and thank you for your continued support. Construction “PERMITTING”, The Barefoot Sage will be open in early JUNE!!!!!
Please follow us on Facebook, or at bfsage.blogspot.com

Building Began!
Building Begins
It was a beautiful, sunny winter afternoon, we saw the FIRST and truest sign of building commence. The old roof and support beams were taken down, and the building was allowed to breathe its first breath of fresh (smokeless) air since October 2009. New support beams were brought in and hoisted into place, following quickly behind was the re-framing of the roof. Next week should see the rest of our space being framed and prepped for drywall. Exciting!! We are thrilled and encouraged to finally be sharing with all of you the beginning steps in the building process.
We are coming back, and we are going to be stronger and better than ever!! We will continue to keep you updated on the progress in the spa. Keep your eyes and ears open for our mid-spring 2010 re-opening. Follow us on Facebook, www.bfsage.blogspot.com or on our website www.thebarefootsage.com.
Thank you for your continuing support,

The Sun Is Shinning Through The Building!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not only has the sun been shinning for all of us to enjoy, but it found it's way into The Barefoot Sage as well because.................................. the roof is gone and the renovation is starting!!!
I feel so invigorated and light, my shoulders literally felt the pressure coming off of them when walking down Hawthorne towards The Barefoot Sage on Monday. We saw the lock to the door open, one of the curtains raised, construction equipment, contractors and framers starting to do what they do best and several of our Barefoot Sage team members ready to help with a project.
I would wake up every day since the fire just hoping for this day to arrive and at night I would go to sleep hoping that the next day would be the day when something would happen so that I could share with the world what I'm sharing with you today, I played it over and over in my mind, exactly what I would say. Today I sit here, wanting to describe the feelings because it seems like the words "happy", "excited", even "thrilled" just don't measure up to what has filled my heart since the sun started pouring in through the open roof of our soon to be new home.
So much healing happens inside our spa, I sometimes wondered how all of us would heal after this. For me, this begins the tangible healing.
Our contractor is working very closely with us to achieve the best results in the renovation of The Barefoot Sage. Having the opportunity of starting with a clean canvas, we are making some improvements and changes that we are sure you will enjoy.
The one thing that hasn't happened yet, is a more defined opening date but we were told that hopefully next week they will be able to tell us with more certainty. Patience seems to come with any and all interactions regarding our journey to opening our doors again and I admit that this is normally a challenge for me but today, knowing that the work has started I feel calm and more than ever thankful for what is to come. It will be beautiful, peaceful, colorful, warm and inviting.
YAY!!!!!THE WORK HAS BEGUN.

Time.....................
I am amazed at how different time can seem from one experience to the other, from one moment to the other. Emotionally, time can really be excruciating. Every inquiery we receive about our reopening date I just feel my heart wanting to scream because beleive me, if it were up to us we woud've been open a long "TIME" ago.
Sometimes it seems like the fire was only a few days ago, sometimes it feels like it's been forever since we started the rollercoaster of getting our home, business and safehaven for a lot of people back from the ashes.
To those closest to me, I really appreciate your support and kind words even when I show my raw emotions to you, sometimes in the form of exasperation and frustration. I pray that you never have to experience this.
I am honestly humbled by how many of you have continued to support us by purchasing gift certificates on line, our very skilled therapists are going to be thrilled to see all of you hopefully very soon.
I want to push fast forward and be open already, I am feeling like time is stuck and we all are just floating in the air at it's mercy wishing, hoping, and really wanting to defy every second, minute and hour that doesn't go by.
Today I am sending it out into the universe, please continue to give us strength to endure the weeks ahead, to beleive that all the people involved in this project are using their time wisely to get us up and running soon, please make sure all of our loyal clients know how desperately we want to be there for them and that their support is amazing. Yes, we are all very grateful that we are safe and that nobody got hurt through this.
Time has brought me some truely wonderful memories, for them I take the "TIME" and revel in the moment.
If we live good lives,
the times are also good.
As we are,
such are the times.

FUN.......FUN......FUN.......
Yes!!!!! today was FUN, actually this week has been fun.
We met a very good friend of ours on Monday to look at drawings, pictures, colors, fabrics and lots of other things to start putting together the vision that we have had dancing in our heads for our new Barefoot Sage. She listens to me patiently and beleive me, you need to be patient when I am throwing around ideas about what I see in my minds eye, she takes all the information with her to process and every time she she comes back with my vision and so much more to offer. Jenni is truely fantastic, you will all feel her love when we open our doors again, trust me.
Today we met with one of our favorite vendors, Tamara came to the meeting with her mother and we all had a good time talking about the positive side of things. The fire has certainly provoked a lot more thinking on my part about how powerless we are regarding so much in our lives and yet, how much power we do have about so much more in our lives if we just take the time to rethink everything.
So we are rethinking everything, the fire took everything away except our our love for The Barefoot Sage, the people that work there, the people that support us year after year and the vendors whose products we share with everyone. Tamara has some new things that go hand in hand with our future plans, I am starting to feel my heart beating just a tad bit faster with every project on our list completed or at least in the process of being completed.
We continue to meet with our managers weekly as they all have assignments and projects of their own to complete. We see how much attention to detail they are putting into them and how much fun they are also having with them. More than anything, it's how much they are learning about all aspects of a business.
We can't wait to share with all of you. Hopefuly very soon.
Until the next time,
Cuqui

Amazing People....................
All along I've been writing about how amazing our mgrs and lmt's are, I definitely feel we are so very blessed that they are all who they are but I haven't written about another group of truely wonderful people. So today I dedicate this entry to all of the people that have come through the doors of The Barefoot Sage. It is for you that we strive to better ourselves everyday, It is you that keeps us motivated to make our spa a place where all of us can experience a level of tranquility and nurture from the crazy world outside.
The process has been hard on everyone and so many of you have shared with us your feelings of concern and inspiration at a time when we needed it the most, how refreshing it is to be connected to people that care.
Yes, we have had our share of calls and e-mails from people that were more concerned with wether we were going to open again and many, many more from people with good wishes asking "When" we will open because they want to come in.
To be honest, it is scary to have our doors closed for as long as we have. The thoughts of losing touch with our clients is unsetling, but we trust that all of you will remember when the time comes and come in even if it's just to say Hi.
As we begin to look at colors, lighting, improvements etc. you all are in our minds because when our doors open again we want you, our mgrs and lmt's to feel the love that we are putting into it to rise from this experience in wonderment and thankful for what we have.
Thank you all for your support through the past six years.
We will see you again soon,
Always,
Cuqui

Thoughts about changes and new beginnings........
Thank you to my daughter, for the card that has these words written on it. I look at it every day, it helps me get grounded and less frustrated about the things I can't control.
Here's to the rebuild of The Barefoot Sage, a place that we love and to our team of wonderful people, can't wait for the next chapter of our new home.
It isn't always easy to make changes, but there's no better advise than this: just do your best. Make sure you stay strong enough to move ahead, because there are some wonderful rewards waiting for you.
It won't all make sense right away, but I promise you: over the course of time, answers will come, decisions will prove to be the right ones, and the path will be easier to see. Here are some things you can do that will help to see you through.....
You can hope. Because it works wonders for those who have it. You can be optimistic. Because people who expect things to turn out for the best often set the stage to receive a beautiful result.
You can put things in perspective. Because some things are important, and others are definitely not.
You can remember that beyond the clouds, the sun is still shinning. You can meet each challenge and give it all you've got.
You can count your blessings. You can be inspired to climb your ladders and have some nice, long talks with your wishing stars. You can be strong and patient. You can be gentle and wise.
And you can beleive in happy endings. Because you are the author of the story of your life.

Smiling and trying...............
Trying to what? trying to stay positive and hopeful but the reality is that today I am feeling like I want to vent my frustrations................... so here I go, I thought that by now I would have much more information and perhaps be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The fire happened 11 weeks ago, the process has been incredibly slow and I don't even know who to blame, as if blaming anyone would expedite things.
For 11 weeks our team has been out of work, I am so very happy to say though that they are all hanging in there and that they are all just as anxious as we are to get back on our "FEET".
I am a beleiver of "Things happen for a reason", and usually I am good at looking at the whole picture and somewhat be able to determine what the benefits are to whatever has ocurred. This time I am having a little harder time of it, I imagine PATIENCE is perhaps one of the things I am being challenged with. Really?........
The last six months of 2009 were quite intense at many levels, we were just like everyone else still in the midst of the economy,we lost a good friend, had health issues (fortunately with good results) in the end and The Barefoot Sage was devastated in a fire. So YES, I was really hoping that at least we would be a little farther than we are by the first week of this New Year.
One thing is for sure, we are really are so thankful that nobody was hurt during this fire and that we are able to come back with our entire team to give all of you the very best experience we can.
Ok,Ok............I will continue to update all of you as soon as I get more information and I WILL stay positive, because after all we are reopening with our entire team and it is a brand New Year full of hope.
